Thank you for the thoughts and considerations in this newsletter! I was reminded of The Crying Book by Heather Christle. It's a brilliant meditation on society and tears : https://www.littlebrown.co.uk/titles/heather-christle/the-crying-book/9781472154705/

Dearest Freya, I stand in solidarity with the collective pain of your nation. I don't understand how at such a tender age, a child's mind can be consumed by such diabolical ideas. Is it a result of broken family or abuse and neglect or both?

I ache for the people who lost the light of their lives, their sweet little kids. How much more unnecessary pain will we have to witness due to lack of compassion? I don't know dear friend, I don't know how to console you.

Here is something written by the nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore on mourning and loss that might balm your aching heart :

“If my heart is breaking—let it break! That will not make the world bankrupt—nor even me; for man is so much greater than the things he loses in this life. The very ocean of tears has its other shore, else none would have ever wept.”
