Have you read, The Soul of an Octopus: A Surprising Exploration into the Wonder of Consciousness by

Sy Montgomery? It's a remarkable book, IMHO a must read for cephalopod fans.

That's a very sweet poem. Other than plastic, nothing is more enduring than a mother's love.

My take on confidence: We're all crapping our pants!

Thanks for this Freya, especially the link on the cult of confidence. We are socialized to equate leadership with authority and therefore confidence. I struggled with what you perfectly call cosplay throughout my school and corporate life, eventually walking away from anything that felt like leadership. Later in life, when called upon to lead, I felt deeply uncomfortable. I took myself off to an authentic leadership intensive, where I learned to decouple leadership and authority, and settle into a "soft" leadership role. In my current role I interface a lot with the public sector where I work primarily with women. Toxic masculinity affects all of us. One of these days, I'll put all this in an essay. In the meantime, thanks for giving me space in your comments!
